More About Us
A Worshipping Community
The heart of our life together is
worship. Each Sunday we gather at 11:00 am to celebrate
God's love. Our worship features a full Communion liturgy
with a rich variety of music selected from old favourites and
contemporary pieces. The liturgy itself reflects the rich
traditions informed by the concerns of today and yet true to our
biblical heritage.
Many of our members and friends are actively involved in
significant roles as readers, ushers, actors, musicians and as
greeters during our worship time. Others are hard at work
behind the scenes running our nursery during our service and
serving as hosts at our refreshment breaks after the service.
Special services such as Baptisms and Weddings are arranged by
appointment with our pastor, the Reverend Peter Hincke, who may
be reached by calling the church office at (613) 938-6683.
A Serving Community
At St. Matthew's we believe that
all people are important and have a share in our common
ministry. So we work to insure that each person has the
opportunity to serve in a way that is both meaningful and
rewarding.
At St. Matthew's we have committed ourselves to the service of
others. We express our gratitude for the gifts God has
given us by giving to others in return.
Each Sunday, an offering is received to support local and global
ministries through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada,
Canadian Lutheran World Relief and Lutheran World Relief.
We also support the National and World Council of Churches.
Locally we collect food for the Agape centre and give gifts of
money to the centre during the holiday seasons.
We also serve our local community by providing education series
such as " Parenting with Purpose" and forums on
topics such as "Living Wills" and we encourage
our members to be active in our community as volunteers and as
members of our community service clubs.
