Cherry served in the Canadian Armed Forces attaining the rank of Sergeant. While serving she met Paul Mehler who was a Master Warrant Officer and her immediate superior in the dental clinic where both served.
When they married she gave up her career in the army to avoid any conflict of interest .
Cherry is presently into tole painting and makes numerous pieces which she sells at a local gift shop on consignment.

Paul joined the Canadian Army when he was 16 years old and served with peace keeping missions in Egypt and Cyprus. He also served at the Canadian Forces Base in Lahr Germany and prior to his retirement served with the Van Doos or the 22nd regiment in Anciennes Quebec. After his retirement he and Cherry bought a house in Armstrong B.C. where they live until they decided to come to Cornwall Ontario so Cherry could be near her parents.
Although Cherry and Paul have no children they do have Oscar their cat. Cherry had always wanted a Hedgehog but they think Oscar is more fun than a rolling hedgehog. The recently bought him a playmate called Annie as he was just too rambunctious and needed a place to let out his energies.
Although Oscar has been declawed it has been no deterrent to his climbing into almost impossible places. He has a penchant for bathrooms and likes nothing better than to chow down on toilet paper. In fact they have had to devise a separate cover to protect theit t/p rolls.
And this is "little Orphan Annie" who has been assured of a good home with Paul and Cherry. She and Oscar get along well together now but Oscar still tends to get a little rough at times.
