Bobby

This is a picture of Jewel and son Bobby taken while father Art was overseas in WWII. A Canadian soldiers wife then received a half of his regular pay of $1.30 per day plus $50 per month which for a private was about $70 per month. This doesn't seem like much in today's standards but in 1939 when Art first went overseas and Canada was just gearing up for the war effort, the wage for women in munitions factories was just twentyfive cents per hour and even at war's end was little more than fifty-cents.

Jewel and Bobby lived with Art's parents and her army allowance plus Art's father's pension from WWI was very adequate for the standards of the day. A full course meal in a Chinese restaurant was about 40 cents and people were standing in line to see "Gone With The Wind" at a local Kingston theatre for the same.

And this is Bobby and his own family taken a few years ago.

The oldest son Robbie has no children himself as yet but youngest son ricky has a boy named jarret.

Daughter Marcie is unmarried as yet but has a fiancee who is in the Canadian Navy and situated in British Columbia.
