COMMUNITY SUPPORT
The Community Support Program provides temporary
financial assistance and employment counseling to eligible community members.
The program provides support for basic needs (food, shelter, clothing) and
can provide assistance for disabilities, training, employment, and other
emergency expenses. Grants are possible for eligible homeowners in need
of house repairs to assure the safety, health, and well-being of their families.

AKWESASNE CHILD & FAMILY SERVICES
Akwesasne Child and Family Services provides direct
intervention and prevention strategies for families. Direct intervention
is for those families who are experiencing difficulties which affect their
ability to provide for the care and development of their children. Prevention
strategies include community workshops, parenting skills, self-help groups,
child protection, foster care, family support, and traditional services.
Program staff coordinate their services with external agencies of Canada
and the United States.

AKWESASNE CHILD CARE
The Akwesasne Child Care Program operates a licensed,
professional child care service in each of the three districts. Services
are provided five days a week for 251 days of the year. Their office is

Private Home Day Care
Private Home Day Care provides child care services for children 6 weeks
to 9 years old. The providers are screened and trained, and their homes
are inspected to ensure compliance with the requirements and expectations
of the Ontario Day Nurseries Act and the Agency.
District Day Care Centers
Day Care Centers provide professional child care for children ages 18 months
to 5 years old. The Centers foster the physical & emotional health and
the social & cultural development of our children. The Centers normally

IONKWANONHSASETSI(Adolescent Group Home)
Ionkwanonhsasetsi is a temporary residence for
adolescents experiencing emotional, behavioral, substance abuse and psychological
problems. Staff assist each adolescent and their family to attain a healthy
relationship by becoming fully aware of cultural and family values.

IETHINISTEN:HA IETHINONRONHKWA(The Akwesasne
Family Violence Program)
This Program provides both emergency shelter and services for women and
their children who are victims of domestic violence and independent, secured,
housing. The Program operates on a 24 hour basis, 7 days a week. Direct
interventions are strong, cultural and sensitive, and are applied through
one-to-one counseling, support groups, traditional healing ceremonies, and
healing circles. Program staff have developed a component for men who want
to develop positive relationships with their partners, families, and themselves.
Iethirihwakwenienh has four furnished apartments for families who have been
residents of Iethinisten:ha Iethinonronhkwa and who are in need of extended
safety and support in various aspects of their lives.
