

Welcome to the web site for the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne - Department of Social Development & Health. The purpose of this web site is to provide information about our programs and facilities to people within our community and beyond. The mandate of the department is to provide an adequate level of well being for members of Akwesasne. Under this mandate we provide a variety of health and social services. The Department of Social Development & Health is comprised of 4 main divisions: Adult Care, Social Division, Health Division and Administration. As you browse through the web site, you will find detailed information about each of these divisions. Additional features of the web site include sections such as: job openings(updated regularly), news, upcoming events, links to other health sites, and maps. The section titled First Nations Health Management Institute(HMI) is a program which we continue to develop. HMI is a consulting service which we offer to other first nations - helping them to develop their own health care systems.
