Building confidence in children through
recreational activities
Programs for youths aged 3-16 years of age
Program Dates: June 23 to August 29
The program has two venues: one for youths 3-12 years of age, the second for youths 13-16 years of age.
3-12 year old program: DAY CAMP
The children are divided into various age groups with an assigned counsellor. Daily activities include such things as arts and crafts, swimming, co-operative games, theme days, day trips and various sports.
The mandate of Recreation Plus Day Camp is to provide a high quality alternative for babysitting or daycare, to parents who feel their child can develop confidence and social interactions skill through play.
Our first goal is to employ
qualified/experienced personnel who can help children develop emotionally
and physically through play.
Our second goal is to endure
the safety and recognition of all children who participate in the programming
by promoting self responsibility, respect and by recognition of differences.
Our third goal is to ensure
the playfulness of the children and help them develop confidence through
various forms of play and self expression.
13-16 year old program: YOUNG LEADERS IN TRAINING
The focus is on leadership development to prepare the youths to work in a day camp or similar environment. Skills learned will include such things as CPR, basic first aid, conflict resolution, communication, handling difficult situations, etc... Youths will receive a certificate of participation for each week attended, and a certificate of completion once the full 8 components have been completed.
The mandate of Recreation Plus Young Leaders in Training is to provide quality training to youths between the ages of 13 and 16, to prepare them to obtain employment in a day camp setting.
The first goal will be that
the programming offer's guidance and skills development for handling difficult
and delicate situations.
The second goal is that the
idea of play will be maintained as the basis for learning throughout this
program. The focus is for children to have fun while building confidence
and self-esteem.
The third goal is to provide
a high level of training and realization of the responsibility which goes
along with it, via a highly trained staff.
The Program trainer is bilingual, and is a Social Services Worker.
Cost: $80.00 per week
Program is 10 weeks in length.

Program times:
7:30-8:00 is drop off
8:00-4:00 is the actual programming
4:00-5:00 is the pick up time
Program Fees:
For the 3-12 year olds:
$18/day/child
For the Leaders in Training:
$80 per week

Participant Needs:
lunch and snacks
sun protection: lotion, hats
and sunglasses
bathing suits and towels
running shoes: no hard
